High?Efficiency Monolithic Photosupercapacitors: Smart Integration of a Perovskite Solar Cell with a Mesoporous Carbon Double?Layer Capacitor

The integration of solar cells with supercapacitors into hybrid monolithic power packs can provide energy autonomy to smart electronic devices the Internet Things (IoT) by mediating between intermittent load and supply. Herein, such a photorechargeable supercapacitor (also called photosupercapacitor) is developed via three-electrode p–i–n halide perovskite cell gel electrolyte-type that uses mesoporous N-doped carbon nanospheres (MPNC) as active electrode material. Benefiting from large surface area, well-defined structure, homogeneous particle size MPNC material, demonstrates high capacitance, resulting in densities charge/discharge efficiency. Its large-area (1 cm2) FA0.75Cs0.25Pb(I0.8Br0.2)3 cell, an optimized layer sequence minimize degradation, results photosupercapacitor exhibiting fast (< 5 s) photocharging up 1 V. outstanding peak overall photoelectrochemical conversion efficiency 11.5% result 12.5%, storage 92%, low internal losses due integration. These underline potential this type device toward application IoT.

A mesoporous nickel layer is used as the counter electrode in printable perovskite solar cells. A unique reuse process is realized in such perovskite solar cell devices by repeated loading of the perovskite material. Under standard AM1.5 illumination, the fresh device shows a promising power conversion efficiency of 13.6%, and an efficiency of 12.1% is obtained in the reused devices.
